Depart from your hotel at 07h30 for a 6 hour drive to Moshi via Loitoktokto arrive at the Springland Hotel at 13h30 .

After breakfast you will be transferred to Marangu Gate (drive takes about an hour) passing though the villages of Marangu which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. Once you reach the park gate you will register with the park office and hike for about 5 hours (12 km) in the natural forest to arrive in the Mandara Hut at 2700 metres above sea level in the late afternoon.

After an early morning breakfast depart for a 6 hour walk (15 Km) to Horombo Hut at 3700 metres above sea level. It is a gentle walk through the moorland and heather zone. Picnic lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut.

This is an extra night at Horombo for acclimatization. A hike towards the Mawenzi hut through Zebra rocks (3 hours up, 1.5 hours down) is recommended as it will assist in acclimatizing. Keep a slow pace and drink plenty of water. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut.

After breakfast start the ascent to Kibo hut, which is 15 Km away (6 hours). This is through the moorland and saddle and through the last water point on the mountain. Picnic lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at Kibo hut which is 1700 metres above sea level.

Wake up at midnight and set off for the summit which is Uhuru peak at 5,896 metres. This hike passes via Hans Meyer Cave, Gillman’s and Stella’s points. It takes about 8 hours to the peak on scree and ice. Another 3 hours is needed to descend to Kibo hut and another 3 hours to Horombo hut for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast continue the descent past Mandara to the park gate where successful climbers are awarded certificates. You will meet your vehicle here to transfer you to the Springland Hotel where you overnight.
